Dr. Lipson and her family moved to Indianapolis in early 1989, where she began her practice of physiatry based at Methodist Hospital. In 1992 she began to work at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana when it opened. Over the years she has coordinated rehabilitation care for many of ING's seriously neurologically impaired patients. This extends from the ICU through in-patient rehabilitation, outpatient therapies, and transition in many cases back to school, employment, and driving. Dr. Lipson enjoys rehabilitation of patients with head injury, spinal cord injury, aneurysms/AVM's, and strokes. She notes the importance of close family involvement. In the outpatient setting Dr. Lipson is interested in musculoskeletal rehabilitation. She evaluates acute, subacute, and in some cases chronic injuries with an emphasis on timely therapy intervention, patient education, and improving function. She aims for good communication with physical therapists. Board certified in 1990 by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Lipson has served twice in recent years as an Oral Examiner at the annual PM &R Boards in Rochester, Minnesota. She frequently has RI medical students and resident physicians rotating with her. She lives in Indianapolis with her husband Steve and four children. MEDICAL
